In 2006, I worked as the web master and art director for the madcap campaign that got Kinky Friedman on the ballot for Texas Governor. Kinky wasn't elected, but I gained a lot of great stories and experience in how to engage the public.
As part of my job, I designed and coded website, produced blog content and created marketing materials. We built the campaign site on Movable Type to allow each county coordinator to maintain their own blog for area volunteer events.
I was also one of the primary campaign photographers and traveled with Kinky covering events across the state. Here are a few of my favorite images. I particularly enjoyed the golf tournament at Willie Nelson's Luck Ranch.
